I’ve been in the voice service business for more than half my life now and I still love it. It’s fun, I learn a lot of new things every day from different industries and I meet interesting people along the way.
I’m a Voiceover Artist, Trainer, Voice & Speech Coach and mother to 3 children. I reside in sunny (and sometimes very wet) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I feel blessed to live in a country among different Asian cultures and languages, so diverse and colourful. I sound like one of my scripts for Malaysian tourism.
I spent my formative years in London, so hot toasted bread (preferably fresh-baked) with lashings of good quality butter is my idea of comfort food. Oh, and a ploughman’s lunch. My balm to soothe away a stressful day is to steep my secret stash of Puer tea leaves and just sip in tranquillity (don’t ask why it’s a secret stash). Being at the mercy of a good massage therapist would be my sublime ending to any day. That rarely happens, of course. But just like every Malaysian, I often have heady affairs with our amazing local food, because we can.
I started VOCAPEDIA, to help improve the way people speak and sound for presentations or public speaking situations – only if they want to of course. It’s not my intention to change the way people speak or make them feel like there’s something wrong with how they sound. But they will learn a thing or two about how confident they can become with some coaching. My hope is that Vocapedia can be a platform where regular people, who once thought they would never get over the debilitating fear of public speaking, can finally stand up and share their brilliant ideas and stories, and at the same time be a source of inspiration to other glossophobics out there.
